Queen of the Zoldians

The monotony of Dian Smith's life was a tremendous burden. Every day was the same tedious slog of work and solitude, an unvarying drone of discontent. She carries on her dull life with uninteresting job where she has to listen to strangers talk about their trauma and lame past. Returns to her tiny apartment at night to piles of sweatshirts and baggy pants everywhere, stacks of bills on the table and cans of soda or the floor

With zero social life, Her cat was her only source of consolation in her drab apartment. The clutter and disarray seemed to mirror her mental state.

One day, she was confronted by a man who looked like he had stepped out of a comic book. His name was Romes, and he spoke of an alternate universe where Dian was royalty. And not just any kind but the queens of the Zoldians. A tribe of noble and mighty warriors.

Romes claimed that she was destined to lead an army against monstrous creatures called the Stowoeds. Another tribe, bent on taking over the galaxies destroying every planet or persons that comes in their way. It seemed like the delusions of a madman, she looks at the freak, "probably another lunatic let loose into the city." She thinks.

She stares down at her black cat, looks around to see anybody watching this crazy fellow dressed in some crazy costume talking to her.

With every word he said, Dian felt her impatience growing stronger. The crazy hippie rants about Dian being some kind of destined queen who revealed to him by their late warrior queen, Diane, as she dies in the battle field.

"Look bud, I get you," she begins uninterested and impatient. "But my cat here, has to go grab her dinner. It's gonna rain soon, so why don't you wait over there. I'll be right back and we'll talk  about saving the galaxy later. Hey?"

But Romes swears under his breathe. He grabs her, and in an instant, they space jumped into a completely different world. Dian screams and open her eyes in another world. "Heyyy sir. Where are we?" She screams in disbelief.

"In Xercan, your majesty. The outskirts of the land boundary"

Dian's eyes widen in horror. She runs around quickly, kneels on the floor, closes her eyes and open them over and over again. 
"No sir, we were in new Jersey, a sec ago. There were cars..."

Rome quickly covers her mouth and drag her to a cave. Almost immediately a group of deadly beasts fly above them with machines she has never seen before. They come out as the beasts go far away. Dian crawls out of her hole and stares at the bleak  land that's filles with smoke. The ground was littered with the bodies of alien beings. The sharp smell of something surreal hit her, she knows this is real.

The realization that she wasn't dreaming hit her like a brutal punch. She was in an alien universe, where her alternate self was a deceased queen.

Dian was escorted safely by Romes to the royal court. Her reflection mirrored a queen adorned in intricate armor, a crown on her head, bold and intriguing. She looks at the walls with engravements of the royalty of the Zoldians.

In that world, her words held the weight of life and death. The soldiers regarded her with respect, awaiting her command.

Dian looks at the reflection of the woman in front of her, the guards and maids waiting, the new technology unfolding before her eyes. She knows this isn't her world. "Looks pops, i get all you saying now but it's time my cat and I go back home. Thanks for showing me around. But we need to leave right now."

She hears the gasps behind her. Romes stares at her "you don't understand your majesty, our late queen appointed you as our leader. This is your home now. Your people await your command."

"No no no boyoo. I live in New Jersey, I work as a psychologist. I have to go back to my lame and dull life. Let's just say your queen, bless her soul, made a mistake or you got the wrong girl."

The maidservants were already whispering.

In time, she grew accustomed to her role. She began to exude the assurance and strength of a courageous queen, inspiring hope in her soldiers.

Dian led her first battle against the Stowoeds. The brutal reality of war was harsher than any training could have prepared her for.
